History of the territory

The territory of the Community of Communes of the Guebwiller Region is fortunate to have a very rich heritage, which is available in many areas. Its architectural heritage, in particular, is among the most beautiful in Alsace, with emblematic buildings such as Murbach Abbey, the Notre-Dame de Guebwiller church or the Art Nouveau houses of Guebwiller. It also has a landscape marked by the centuries, where the traces of man are legion: omnipresent forests and vineyards, a plethora of parks and gardens, a recurring industrial landscape, or even traces of a habitat at altitude and old quarries.
