Temporary exhibition “Vivus”

British artist Jan Stevens presents a work born from his encounter with a manuscript from 1467 kept at the Dominican Library in ColmarThe medicinal plants depicted fascinated the artist with the modesty and modernity of the illustrations. Inspired by these drawings, she created a unique handmade linen book with the aim of establishing a dialogue between the past and the present.

The exhibition takes the form of an art installation reminiscent of a cabinet of curiosities; visitors can discover not only the illustrations taken from the manuscript alongside the artist's book, but also the stages of the experimental process – sketches, photographs, models, ceramics, print tests and videos.
